Tackling the
root causes of
human trafficking
Modern slavery is the very antithesis of social justice and sustainable development.
The 2021 estimates 49.6 million people in modern slavery (International Labour Organization (ILO), and International Organization for Migration (IOM) 2022).
That’s 1/150 people in the world. That’s over 13 million children. And over half of it happens in Asia and the Pacific
Human trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world…set to overtake the drug trade… why? A shot of heroin can only be used once, a bullet can only be used once. A sexual victim can be used multiple times a night, year after year.
